Zona Farms @ HITS Thermal 2009
04/02/2009 The Zona horses had a great trip to HITS Thermal, enjoying beautiful weather and a much appreciated break from the Oregon rain. Halie and Avery both put in solid rounds in the equitation ring, with Avery and Sting finishing up as Reserve Champion in the Equitation 14-15 division during HITS Desert Circuit IV. The pair also brought home many top ribbons in the Children's Hunter division. Halie had a fantastic first show on Larena, with her highlight being a clean round in the Children's Jumpers in the Indoor Ring where the World Cup qualifying events are held. The riders and their parents really enjoyed the show and were excited about how much they learned during consecutive weeks of showing at an international level competition. Congratulations horses and riders!
Zona Winners at OHJA Awards Banquet

Zona Farms' riders and horses were recognized in many divisions during last Saturday's OHJA awards ceremony. In addition to the awards received in the divisions listed below, Avery Worthington received a special perpetual trophy for the rider receiving the most points in the 13 & under division. Congratulations to all of Zona's riders, horses, and families - without whom none of this would be possible - on an outstanding 2008 show season. We are excited for many more successes in 2009.

OHJA Awards Banquet - Save the Date

Mark your calendars for the OHJA Awards Banquet - Saturday, January 10 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Tigard, Oregon. The Zona Farms' group will attend the banquet together to celebrate and support the achievements of all our riders' over the last show season. Other family members (siblings, grandparents) and friends are welcome to attend. Tickets are $55.
Welcome Athena!

Zona Farms has welcomed new horse Athena to the training program at the new Pumpkin Ridge Equestrian Center. Athena is a 3 year old bright bay mare by the stallion Caletino at Quailhurst Estates. She is the complete package with her great looks and conformation, athleticism, and easy temperament.
Congratulations to the Budzinski family on the purchase of this lovely mare - we are looking forward to working with her!
Welcome Tess!
10/22/2008We'd like to welcome Tess, a 12 year old TB/Westphalen cross, to the Zona Farms program. Tess is an uncomplicated, safe, and fun teacher for beginner through intermediate riders. She is available for group or private lessons on the flat and over fences.
Year End Horse Show

Congratulations to Avery and Sting on a very successful OHJA Year End Horse Show in Eugene. Sting was a Zona Farms star, bringing home the championship ribbon in every division entered - Large Hunters, Children's Hunters, and Children's Equitation! We are proud of all you have accomplished this year.

Congratulations to Tim Miller and Halie on the purchase of Larena. Larena is an 8 year old Holsteiner mare with a fabulous jumping style and a winning show record. Darci is very excited to have this new mount in the jumper ring and we are all looking forward to watching Halie move up through the ranks on this very talented horse.

The United States' Gina Miles won an Olympic silver medal at the Beijing Games equestrian center in Hong Kong on Tuesday, riding McKinlaigh through two clean rounds in the eventing individual jumping finals.
"I always knew he was the best event horse in the world," Miles said of McKinlaigh. "He had his day to shine at the Olympic Games."
"It was my dream just to be in the individual final, to be fourth or fifth," Miles told the U.S. Equestrian Federation after the competition. "This is the reward for a lifetime of hard work."
The Country Classic

Nine Zona Farms' horses and ponies spent a fun and sunny week at the 2008 Country Classic horse show July 9-13. It was especially exciting for Molly to bring 3 year old Fitch to his first show - even taking him out for an evening ride in the warm up ring with Darci and Fredy. In the show ring, Darci and Lucy were again class winners in both the 1.0m and 1.10m jumpers. With Halie in the saddle, Lucy placed 4th in several large, competitive Low Children's Jumper classes. Avery and Sting were again Champion in the Children's Hunter 13/U and Reserve Champion in the Children's Equitation. The pair also placed 2nd in both the OHJA and Hillcrest Medals.

Alexandra and Piper continued their success in the Equitation ring, earning Champion in the Pony Equitation division as well as Reserve Champion in the Pre-Children's Pony Hunters. Last but not least, Sydney and Dekker put in some great short stirrup rounds and have continued to show tons of improvement while having a great time.
Early Summer Classic I

Alexandra Crew rode in her first show with Justan, earning several high ribbons the the short stirrup ring. We were all very impressed with how sharp she looked on this handsome black pony. Piper and Alexandra Ulmer had another successful show, earning Reserve Champion in both the Pony Hunter division and the Pre-Children's Equitation. Likewise, Savannah and Boomer also had a great show, taking hom the Reserve Champion ribbons in both the Children's Pony Hunter and Pre-Children's Hunter Pony divisions.

Goodbye Mac!
05/05/2008Congratulations to Hunterberry Hill Farm LLC on the purchase of the small pony hunter 'Mac.' Everyone at Zona Farms will greatly miss Mac around the barn, but we are thrilled to have him going to such a wonderful home. We look forward to seeing Mac and his new rider Avery at the horse shows and wish them much success together!
Zona Farms Window Decals

Now is the time to get your Zona Farms window decal - for displaying in your car or on other items. The sticker will be a 6 inch transparent square with a white Zona Farms logo. For cars, they will affix to the outside of the window and can be removed easily if you need to do so. Decals cost $7 each. Welcome Wade!
04/07/2008Zona Farms would like to welcome Shelley and Bryce Hilderbrand and their horse, Wade, to our program. Wade is a handsome 10 year old bay Thoroughbred gelding with a very sweet and easygoing personality. Shelley and Wade will be in training for the long stirrup hunters. We are excited to welcome them to the program and look forward to helping them work towards their goals!

02/08/2008Mac is a 9 year old Welsh pony. 12.1 hands with permanent small card. Show miles in the short stirrup and small pony hunters. Very cute jumper. Sweet, safe and adorable. Everyone who meets Mac loves him!
Mac was recently awarded the 2007 USEF Zone 9 Championship for Green Pony Hunters (Small). Available for sale for $20,000. See more pictures here.
Year End Awards Winners!

Zona Farms sends out a big thank you to the Budzinski family for hosting a fabulous summer get together for the barn. Everyone enjoyed a delicious outdoor dinner and the kids had a great time in the swimming pool. We're very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of families involved with Zona Farms. Happy summer!
The Country Classic
07/18/2007Zona's horses and ponies have just returned home from a very hot week at the fantastic Country Classic horse show in Wilsonville.
Congratulations to Halie and Lucy who put in a fabulous clean round in Sunday's Low Child/Adult Jumper Classic, finishing 4th out of a field of more than 30 horses. Quite an accomplishment for a pair that was doing the Pre-Children's hunters just last year. Lucy obviously LOVES the jumper ring and put in several other fast and clean rounds in the Level 2 Jumpers with Darci, placing second in two classes.

07/09/2007Zona Farms' horses and riders enjoyed a fun, successful show at the Early Summer Classic #2 at Hunter Creek Farm in Wilsonville. View the gallery of Jeff's photos at Performance Horse Photo.
Elizabeth and Gunther were a fantastic pair at their first rated horse show together, taking a fourth, two sixths, and a seventh in the Beginning Hunter Rider division. Darci and Molly were thrilled with Elizabeth's progress over three days of showing.
Alexandra C., who celebrated her 9th birthday at the show, did a great job piloting her green pony Easy Mac in the Beginning Hunter Rider and Short Stirrup division. The pair grabbed a fourth place in their last round of a large and very competitive short stirrup division.
